PUBLIC NOTICES

DRAFT MANAGEMENT PLAN 2008/09 – 2010/11

Council has revised its Draft Management Plan 2008/09 – 2010/11 which states Council's activities for the next 3 years and the Revenue Policy for 2008/09. It also includes the following 2 rating models:

  • Option 1 – Special Variation to the Ordinary Rate – Council has resolved to apply for a special variation to the ordinary rate to include funding of the loan repayments for the construction of an indoor aquatic centre and infrastructure improvements. This option involves a $10 increase to the 2007/08 base rate, an increase in the rate peg ad valorem rate of 3.2% and a 6.75% increase in the ad valorem rate which is the special variation.
  • Option 2 – Ordinary Rate Without the Special Variation – This option involves a $10 increase to the 2007/08 base rate and an increase in the rate peg ad valorem rate of 3.2%.

The Draft Management Plan is on public exhibition until 4.30pm on 21 May 2008 and is available for viewing at Council's Administration Centre, Lithgow Library Learning Centre, Portland Library , Wallerawang Library, Rydal Library and website www.lithgow.nsw.gov.au.

During the exhibition period, Council will be undertaking the following community briefing sessions on the Draft Management Plan and invites residents to attend:

  • 30 April 2008 – Wallerawang Indoor Sports Centre, Wallerawang at 5pm
  • 30 April 2008 – Portland Central School , Portland at 7.30pm
  • 1 May 2008 – Clarence Bushfire Shed, Clarence at 6pm
  • 10 May 2008 – Capertee Hall, Capertee at 10am
  • 10 May 2008 – Hampton Halfway House, Hampton at 2.30pm .

Written submissions maybe made at any time during the exhibition period up until 4.30pm on 21 May 2008 and should quote Council's Internal Reference No. DAMP08-11.

LJ HOOKER REG COWDEN MEMORIAL SPORTS STAR OF THE YEAR AWARDS – JANUARY AND FEBRUARY 2008

Lithgow City Council is pleased to advise that the following applicants were selected as the winners of the LJ Hooker Reg Cowden Memorial Sport Star Awards for January and February 2008:

  • LJ Hooker Reg Cowden Memorial Junior Sport Star Award for January 2008 – Hayden Boyd (Swimming) – Hayden was the Junior Boy Champion at the St Patrick’s Carnival with 4 x 1 st and 2 2nds, breaking 2 school records, the Junior Boys Champion at the PSSA Carnival with 5 x 1sts and 2 x 2 nd, the Central Tablelands Swimming team Junior Boys Champion with 6 x 1 st and 2 2 nd, CTS Speedo Sprints with 3 x 1 st and 1 x 2 nd breaking a CTS record in Breaststroke that stood for 10 years, qualified for the NSW Speedo Sprints at Home bush in March 2008, was the Junior Boys Champion at the Eastern Region Championships with 4 x 1 st and 1 x 2 nd, the Catholic Region Junior Boy Champion with 3 x 1 st and 2 x 3 rd, qualifying to represent the Region at the Catholic State Polding, and is also a member of the relay team which also qualified;
  • LJ Hooker Reg Cowden Memorial Junior Sport Star Award for February 2008 - Jenna Heath (Athletics) – Jenna came 1 st in the 100 metres, 1 st in the 200 metres, and 2 nd in the Long Jump events at the Regional Athletics Carnival, and has qualified to compete at the State Championships;
  • LJ Hooker Reg Cowden Memorial Senior Sport Star Award for January 2008 - Dale Ryan (Wood Chopping) – Dale won two (2) state titles in Tasmania in the 325mm Standing Block and the 375mm Standing Bock events in January 2008.
  • LJ Hooker Reg Cowden Memorial Senior Sport Star Award for February 2008 - Workies Aces Premier League Lawn Bowls team (Lawn Bowls) after their impressive 61 – 55 win over the Taren Point Premier League Team boasting seven (7) internationals

Merit Certificates for January and February 2008 were also awarded to:

RELEASE OF "BECOMING A COUNCILLOR" PUBLICATION

Lithgow City Council has been in receipt of a Circular in relation to a new publication that is now on the Department of Local Governments website under DLG Publications. The publication is titled "Becoming a Councillor".

This publication contains information for people considering standing for election at the upcoming Local Government Elections to be held on 13 th September 2008 . The publication gives an overview of Local Government in NSW and outlines what a Councillors role is, what support is available for Councillors and how to nominate as a candidate for Local Government Election.

The publication was jointly developed by the Department of Local Government and the Local Government and Shires Associations of NSW. Lithgow City Council encourages the members of the public who are interested in becoming a Councillor, to view this publication.

DRAFT SISTER CITY POLICY

The Draft Sister City Policy has been prepared to provide criteria for the assessment of proposals to establish Sister City Relationships. The Draft Policy is on public exhibition and written submissions can made up until 4.30pm on 21 May 2008 .

Tender Advertisement

Lithgow City Council is calling tenders for the supply of pipe line material and fittings for the construction of a new pipeline at South Bowenfels .

The successful tenderer will be required to supply pipes, valves and fittings as per the tender specifications and quantities of materials supplied by Council.

Tender documents, specifications can be obtained from Lithgow City Council, 180 Mort Street Lithgow.

Further information regarding this tender can be obtained from Lithgow City Council’s Assets Manager, MR.Y.Ajitkumar by telephoning (02) 63549919 during business hours 8:15am to 4:30pm , Monday to Friday.

Any person wishing to submit a tender application for the above work shall do so by submitting their tender marked South Bowenfels Pipe Line Tender.

All tenders shall be hand delivered into Council tender box located in the Administration building of Council 180 Mort Street, Lithgow by 4.00pm , 23 April. Facsimiles will also be accepted on 02-63514259 up until the closing time.

Late submissions will not be considered in relation to the above project.

Lithgow Sewage Treatment Plant Lining of Sludge Lagoon No. 2

NSW Commerce – Riverina/Western Region is co-ordinating tenders on behalf of Council for the abovementioned project. This tender is called for and on behalf of Lithgow City Council who is and will be the Principal and Administrator for the Contract.

Description of Work:

Supply of all materials, plant, equipment and labour for the Geosynthetic Clay Lining of Sludge Lagoon No. 2 at the Lithgow Sewage Treatment Plant. The purpose of these works is to make the Sludge Lagoon practically impermeable.

Tenders should be in a sealed envelope addressed to the Secretary of the Tender Opening Committee and marked with ‘Tender for Lithgow Sewage Treatment Plant – Lining of Sludge Lagoon No. 2’ and the closing date and time.

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST – ROAD NAMING

Council is seeking expressions of interest for the naming of a new road within a 15 lot subdivision at Wallerawang.

Location – The location of this subdivision is Lot 2 DP 1050206 Forest Ridge Drive, Wallerawang.

Proposed Road Name – The proposed road name is ‘West Ridge Road’ and is considered to be appropriate as the subdivision is known as ‘The Ridges’ and is situated on the western side of the mountain intersecting off Forest Ridge Drive.

Council is seeking expressions of interest for the naming of a 10 new roads within a 160 lot subdivision at Bowenfels.

Location – The location of this subdivision is Lot 252 DP 1045308 Great Western Highway, Bowenfels.

Proposed Road Names – The proposed names of the new roads are ‘Three Tree Drive’, which is the well established known local name of the small hill that the road passes along; ‘Sweetbriar Drive’, which is named after the historic homestead of the original property; ‘Coulahan Drive’, ‘Shanny Close’, ‘Reardon Crescent’, ‘McCormack Close’, ‘Sheppeard Way’, ‘Sutton Place’, ‘Jack Baxter Drive’ and ‘Josephine Crescent’ which are taken from names of prior owners of the adjacent historic homestead ‘Sweetbriar’ and surrounding farm land on which the subdivision is located.
