Welcome to Lithgow City Council
The Lithgow Local Government Area (LGA) is
a relatively large geographical area of 4,551 sq km, located
about 140 kilometres west of the Sydney CBD
and within the eastern part of the Central
West Region. The Lithgow LGA lies almost
wholly within the Wiradjuri Aboriginal nation,
with the Gundungurra nation situated to the
south and the Darug nation to the east.
The Lithgow LGA is made up of one large
urban centre called Lithgow, two townships
called Portland and Wallerawang and
numerous villages, hamlets and rural localities
of varying proximity to Lithgow.
The residential population for the 2011 census was recorded as 20,161. |

Our Place…Our Future - Integrate Planning and Reporting Framework
On 4 June 2012, Council adopted its integrated planning and reporting framework which sets the long-term strategic direction for the future of the Lithgow local government area. The framework consists of:
- Community Strategic Plan 2025
- Long-Term Financial Plan 2012-2022
- Strategic Asset Management Plan
- Lithgow City Council Workforce Strategy 2012-2016
- Combined Delivery Program 2012-2016 and Operations Plan 2012-2013.
Council has created a website for the integrated planning and reporting framework that provides greater detail on these documents.
Consultancy for Lithgow Region Migration and Settlement Thematic Study
Lithgow City Council is working in partnership with the Powerhouse Museum’s NSW Migration Heritage Centre to undertake a Lithgow Region Migration and Settlement Thematic Study. Council is seeking an experienced consultant with professional historian qualifications to undertake this study project.

LITHGOW LAND USE STRATEGY 2010-2030
It is advised that Council at its Ordinary Meeting of 31st October, 2011 gave consideration to the exhibited Draft Lithgow Land Use Strategy 2010-2030.
The document has been amended in accordance with Council’s resolutions (Minute No’s 11-422 and 11-450).

Water Restrictions
Level 1 Water Restrictions are now in place for residents of the Lithgow City Council Local Government Area. For garden watering, this means hand held hoses & micro-systems can be used at any time. Topping up and filling of swimming pools is permitted. Sprinklers can be used up to eight hours a day between 6 & 10am and 5 &9 pm. Summer time hours now apply.

Public Complaints Line for Environmental Licenced Premises
Council’s complaints telephone line for the following premises which hold an Environment Protection Licence is 6354 9999:
- Oakey Park Water Treatment Plant
- Lithgow Sewage Treatment Plant
- Portland Sewage Treatment Plant
- Wallerawang Sewage Treatment Plant
- Lithgow Solid Waste Facility
- Portland Garbage Depot.
This telephone line is for the purpose of receiving any complaints from members of the public in relation to the activities conducted at the premises and can be used for the reporting of sewer overflows.

This 15th edition provides a seasonal summary of our local weather and the global update. It continues a series of Fact Boxes that answer common questions about climate change and climate science. Development proposals and donations or gifts
The political donation disclosure laws commenced on 1 October 2008.
The Local Government and Planning Legislation Amendment (Political Donations) Act 2008 requires the public disclosure of donations or gifts when lodging or commenting on development proposals. This law is designed to improve the transparency of the planning system. >>more |
