Council is pleased to announce that Lithgow’s Cinema Under the Stars is back!
The Lithgow Community Drug Action Team (CDAT), in partnership with Lithgow High School, Lithgow TAFE and Transport NSW will be hosting another open air “Cinema Under the Stars” event on Saturday 21 and Saturday 28 January 2012.
“This event is a great opportunity for families to view block buster films without the expense of travelling out of the area. It is a fun, cost free night out and I encourage all movie goers to come along and relax with a picnic as the sun sets and the screen lights up,” said Deputy Mayor Howard Fisher.
“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”, starring Johnny Depp will be screening on Saturday 21 January, followed by Toy Story 3, starring Tom Hanks, on Saturday 28 January. Both movies will commence when the sun goes down at about 8:20pm.
There will also be lots of pre-movie activities to keep the audience entertained, including dance, music and puppetry, and the winners of the CDAT film festival “Think Consequences” will be announced and screened.
“Lithgow City Council proudly supports this event,” added Deputy Mayor Howard Fisher. “In particular, Council would like to acknowledge the Lithgow Community Drug Action Team which is responsible for bringing Cinema Under the Stars to Lithgow”.
Cinema Under the Stars will be held at the Lithgow High School Oval and is a family friendly, alcohol free event with parking available at the adjacent Lithgow TAFE. A fundraising BBQ, including tea and coffee will be on hand, as well as bus transport to and from the event.
