Our Place….Our Future
Tell what you think will make the Lithgow Region a better to live place in 2021.

Council is currently receiving submissions on the Lithgow Community Strategic Plan 2021 – Our Place….Our Future.

“So far the response from the community has been good” said Mayor Neville Castle. “People from across the Lithgow Local Government Area of all ages have been telling us what is good about the area, what could be improved and what they would like to see for the future of the Lithgow region. We are looking for submissions about the smaller things that are important such as playgrounds and other recreational pursuits, as well as long term strategic directions for key services in education, employment and the environment for example.

‘To date, we have received some wonderful submissions from residents both young and old who have taken the time to draw their ideas and vision for the area” continued the Mayor.

Corinna from Lithgow (Age 8) tells us “the best thing about Lithgow is the park because you can play on the swings”, while a resident from Portland feels we need “More rail services to Lithgow instead of Mt Vic”.  Another resident from Wallerawang “would like to see a walkway right around Lake Wallace, using the pipeline bridge as a footbridge across the eastern side to the Barton’s old remains and joining the old highway at Rocky Waterhole”.

“Some ideas can be worked on in the short-term and some are long-term projects but, that is what the Community Strategic Plan is about.  It’s a 10 year plan for the future direction of the Local Government Area which we will work in partnership with the community to implement” said the Mayor.

Our Place…Our Future, Draft Community Strategic Plan 2021 along with two supporting documents; Our Place….Our Future Community Engagement Strategy and Our Place….Our Future Strategic Plan 2007 Report Card to the Community have been developed to enable you to make an informed submission.
The documents are available for viewing at the Council Administration Centre, Lithgow Library Learning Centre and Wallerawang, Portland and Rydal Libraries or at www.lithgow.nsw.gov.au/integratedPlanning/.

Submissions can be made until Friday 16 December and should be addressed to the General Manager, PO Box 19, Lithgow NSW 2790 quoting reference IPR09-12.
